Clinical Focus
My specialty, and the primary focus of our work together, is the development of psychological flexibility. Holistic wellbeing often demands that we face challenging life circumstances with the right mental framework. Psychological flexibility seeks to provide us with tools to face these challenges without being overwhelmed by them.
The development of psychological flexibility often begins with self-insight. It is easy to be unaware of the how and why of our thinking patterns and how they affect our behavior. We’ll go about developing your self-understanding through psychoeducation and analysis. We’ll identify where these patterns might be helpful or unhelpful, and examine how past experiences may have shaped them. And, we’ll identify and directly target any possible inaccurate or distorted thoughts that we observe along the way.
Modalities
I use an integrative approach tailored to your unique needs and the specific issues you’re facing. While my practice is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I also incorporate elements from other therapeutic models depending on what best serves your growth.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): When our focus is on psychological flexibility, I will help you learn to accept difficult thoughts and emotions without being controlled by them. Together, we will work on aligning your actions with your core values, even when challenges arise.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): At times, we may need to directly address unhelpful or distorted thought patterns that are contributing to distress. In these instances, I’ll guide you through identifying, challenging, and restructuring those thoughts to support healthier behaviors and emotional well-being.
Other Modalities: To ensure a comprehensive understanding of your experience, I draw from other approaches as needed. For example, we may use psychodynamic approaches to explore the deeper historical factors that influence your current patterns, or use interpersonal psychotherapy skills if you are struggling in your relationships. I also use solution-focused and strengths-based techniques to target immediate concerns and practical problem-solving.

I specialize in issues around…
LGBTQIA+ Affirming Care
Our gender identity, sexual orientation, and personal experiences are central to our identities. I am committed to providing an affirming and supportive space that honors your unique circumstances, whether or not navigating your identity is part of your reason for seeking help at this time.
Trauma-Informed Care
Trauma deeply affects how we engage with the world. I use a trauma-informed approach that seeks understanding and empowerment, at a pace that ensures that you feel safe, supported, and comfortable throughout the therapeutic process.
Medical Professionals
Medical professionals face unique challenges including burnout, high stress, and the emotional toll of caring for others. We often set aside our own needs to ensure that our patients are well cared for (And don’t get me started on ratios!). As a clinician also working in an acute care hospital, I understand the demands we face. Together, we’ll address the impact of these stressors, develop resilience, and work towards finding balance with our demanding field.
Reaching out and working through this can be scary. Hopefully this breakdown can help demystify the process further.
